Summertime: It is nearly upon us. That means scorching temperatures and the pursuit of all things cool. A beach or mountain escape may not be readily available, but there is a quick solution with minor travel and minimal damage to your wallet. The simple fix: smoothies.

The house of Montague

HGTV’s new ‘Showhouse Showdown’ comes to Edmond

Fair Edmond is where we lay the scene. The houses of Montague and, er, Montague will face off in a vicious rivalry that has been handed down from interior designer to interior designer through the ages. Or whenever HGTV called them up to be a part of their newest show, “Showhouse Showdown.”

It all goes down Sunday at 16416 Montague Drive. And it’ll all be filmed for HGTV’s latest series.

“Showdown” is a competition that pits two professional interior designers against one another to see who can create the favorite design using the same budget and newly built, mirror-image houses (which makes the Edmond development location a no-brainer). The Montague development is a product of Home Creations. No word on where Capulet has claimed land.

On Sunday, the first 100 people to show up will be handed a scorecard to cast their vote on whose design should be ruler of all the land (or, more specifically, which home would they want to buy). And, HGTV will be there filming and may even ask voters opinions, so get your face on.

Home Creations is throwing a cookout from noon to 1 p.m. during registration, then the open houses and voting commences from 1-3 p.m. There’s also a chance to win a $500 gift card.

The episode of “Showhouse Showdown” is scheduled to premiere on Aug. 29 at 9 p.m.
