Letters to the Editor
B. Ellis
I recently read D.W. Tiffee’s letter (“Soak the rich,” Sept. 28, Gazette) responding to Mike Brake’s Sept. 14 letter (“Batchelder logic”) on taxing the “rich.”
For years, Republicans have touted the idea of eliminating the state income tax to create a better business climate, and they have at least a fair chance to start the process during the next legislative session.
Few public policy myths have been as persistent as the one that espouses the elimination of the state’s personal income tax as the key to enhancing Oklahoma’s economy. As a result, it appears that this myth is about to have its day.
