After his untimely death almost a decade ago, Elliott Smith has proven to be one of the most influential songwriters of a generation. In honor of his life and music, a number of local musicians — including Ricky Salthouse, Ryan Lindsey, Josh Jones and many others — will perform A Tribute to Elliott Smith. The music starts 8 p.m. Friday at Opolis, 113 N.
