“This is going to be huge,” swears Rodney Berryhill, owner of Norman’s Oklahoma Motorsports Complex, 3501 S. Interstate Drive. He’s talking about the Grand National Championship Motocross his venue will host for seven days starting Sunday, uprooting it from its usual home in Ponca City. (Eat our dust, Ponca City!) Film it

OKG7 things to do

Rather than going to Beasts of the Southern Wild, you should approach the theater with the idea of going with it. That’s what one Gazette film reviewer said about the imaginative fantasy this past July during its brief theatrical release. With Beasts building serious awards buzz, catch it while you can, with six showings Thursday through Sunday at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, 415 Couch. Tickets are $5-$8. Call 236-3100 or visit okcmoa.com.

I can’t this fight this feeling any longer: I’ve gotta tell you that REO Speedwagon rolls into Shawnee for a 7 p.m. Saturday concert at Grand Casino, 777 Grand Casino. (Beyond that, they’re still going to keep on lovin’ you, ’cause it’s the only thing they wanna do.) It’s going to be a good show; we heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend who heard it from another. Tickets are $49-$84. Call 964-7777 or visit grandshawnee.com.

Clip art

Some of today’s most innovative and creative music videos come from the Norman directorial duo known as Lamar+Nik.

Joshua Boydston
It’s not uncommon for music video directors to work with budgets ranging from thousands to millions. Norman-based production duo Lamar+Nik made its calling card with $80 worth of glue guns and paint pens and a truckload of cardboard.

Code 22 — Going Soft: The Acoustic Album!

Pop

Louis Fowler
The guys of Oklahoma City’s Code 22 seem like a likable group of fellas. Their latest release, Going Soft: The Acoustic Album!, is likable enough as well — so likable that on first listen, I took its clean, acoustic sound and clear, unstressed vocals as an alternative praise-and-worship band.
