Good Morning Grizzly — The Dirty EP

Rock

Zach Hale
Tulsa’s Good Morning Grizzly has been playing together for a couple years now, and although The Dirty EP is technically its first proper release, the melodic alterna-rock quintet sounds nice and, well, grizzled on this five-song debut.

Justin Adams — Justin Adams

Country

Joshua Boydston
Bixby native Justin Adams is a former college football standout with a school record for consecutive games played at Northern Iowa, and that intensity and determination have informed his new path as a country singer. His self-titled debut EP is a sleek, polished recording in line with the genre’s like-minded, clean-cut vocalists Easton Corbin, Luke Bryan and Chris Young.

Music Made Me: Chase Kerby

The singer-songwriter and Defining Times frontman shares five albums that have proven instrumental in his own music career.

Music

Joshua Boydston
Nick Drake, Pink Moon (1972)
I first heard this album in 1999 on a Volkswagen Cabrio commercial. The next year, when I became a sophomore and was old enough to drive, I remember cruising around on warm nights by myself, listening to that album while being completely lost in thought. His ability to do so much with so little is what had me enthralled from the moment I pushed play.

Dustin Prinz - Eleven

Pop

Joshua Boydston
Few musicians take the time to master their instrument in the way that Oklahoma City singer-songwriter Dustin Prinz has; he’s a guitar virtuoso in every sense of the word, and Eleven gives him the chance to show just how far he can push that skill.

Luna Moth - Celestial Shades

Indie

Zach Hale
Luna Moth is no stranger to experimentation. Joey Paz’s Norman-based project began in 2010 with Shamanic Youtha 10-track exploration of layered guitar and pop deconstruction, but has since evolved into a fleshed-out four-piece. And while the ideas implemented have traversed a diverse range of genres, its conceptual foundation largely remains unchanged.
