Sooner the Sunset — Sooner the Sunset

Pop

Joshua Boydston
Oklahoma City’s own Graham Colton is one of the most formidable solo artists the Sooner state has to offer, and he’s even more impressive as half of the new duo Sooner the Sunset, having found his musical soul mate in vocalist Lindsey Ray.

Sinister

Ethan Hawke finds something 'Sinister' in his new home, and it makes for ideal Halloween-season viewing.

Horror

Rod Lott
Although horror movies rarely scare me, I love them. The most I can hope for is to be creeped out sufficiently, and Sinister satisfies that bill.

Argo

As a director, Ben Affleck ratchets up the tension in this fact-based thriller.

Thriller

Phil Bacharach
Generating suspense from a story that is a matter of historical record is no easy thing. That was the primary challenge facing Ben Affleck and Chris Terrio, the director-star and writer, respectively, of Argo, a thriller inspired by a real-life covert operation that helped rescue six U.S. embassy workers out of Iran during the 1979 hostage crisis. It's a testament to the skills of the filmmakers that Argo delivers a deluge of suspense even when its ending is never in doubt.

Smashed

In an intoxicating performance worthy of awards attention, Mary Elizabeth Winstead gets 'Smashed.'

Drama

Rod Lott
In a short career largely dominated with genre films — from Final Destination 3 to this past summer’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter — Mary Elizabeth Winstead always has exuded a certain something. But nothing that ever suggested the level of performance she delivers in Smashed.

Lincoln

Daniel Day-Lewis embodies America's arguably greatest president.

Drama

Phil Bacharach
Lincoln practically shouts “prestige production” before you’ve even had a chance to buy your popcorn. A costume drama about one of this nation’s most revered historical figures, this is the kind of film irresistible to awards groups.
