SXSW 2013: Guardant / The Del Toros / The Kamals / Josh Sallee

Just Joshin'. And you?

Music

Stephen Carradini
It only took Guardant 30 seconds to win me completely over to its team. The quintet’s hyperactive, quirky dance pop is simply irresistible.

Gazette staff
Dubbed “Sesame Street meets South Park,” the raunchy, Tony-winning musical Avenue Q opens at 120 W. Harrison in Guthrie, aka The Pollard Theatre. While much of its cast is puppets, don’t bring the kids, lest they be exposed to puppet sex. In other words, a must-see! Running through May 18, Q begins at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $15-$25. Call 282-2800 or visit thepollard.org.

The Tower

Flame on!

Action

Rod Lott
I have no idea how South Korea was able to get away with not calling The Tower a remake of 1974’s The Towering Inferno. What's important is that it has; this is a terrific disaster epic that marries the gargantuan concepts of the Irwin Allen era with today’s technology.
