Oklahoma City University closes its theater season with a steampunk version of the cutthroat musical Sweeney Todd. You’ll never see a more melodious, maniacal barber than at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, or 3 p.m. Sunday at the Bass School of Music’s Kirkpatrick Auditorium, 2501 N. Blackwelder. Tickets are $12-$25. Show up early for a free curtain talk with director David Herendeen 45 minutes before each show. Call 208-5227 or visit okcu.edu/music.

Horror

Continuing the recent revival of horror anthologies is The Theatre Bizarre, helmed by seven directors. With so many contributing to the recipe, results are expectedly varied, but with enough good to outweigh the bad.

frankenstein

Let’s be ‘Frank’

National Theatre Live’s ‘Frankenstein’ is alive for two days.

If you love Sherlock like I love Sherlock, you might be interested in this filmed play showing tonight and tonight only: Danny Boyle’s Frankenstein.

To steal all the details from our own Gazette:

“It’s alive! It’s alive! National Theatre Live, to be exact, which presents the monster hit Frankenstein on theater screens at 7 p.m. tonight and tomorrow only at AMC Quail Springs Mall 24, Cinemark Tinseltown USA and Norman’s Hollywood Spotlight 14. Directed by Danny Boyle (127 Hours), this whacked-out adaptation stars Sherlock’s Benedict Cumberbatch and Dark Shadows’ Jonny Lee Miller. Visit fathomevents.com.”

It’s my understanding at the two switch roles midway through the play, which sounds like Something to See, provided you’re not seeing anything at deadCENTER, that is. —Rod Lott

Fest it

For Reduxion Theater Company, it just makes sense — and sensibility — to stage a three-day Jane Austen Festival, June 14-16, at its Broadway Theater, 1613 N. Broadway. On the schedule are a stage reading of Pride and Prejudice, bestselling author Linda Berdoll and more presentations and exhibitions than you can shake a Northanger Abbey at. Tickets are $10- $25.
