All is bright

The metro shines with displays of holiday lights and decor.

Features

Gazette staff
Once a year, for about a month or more, people can get away with eye-popping light displays plastered outside their home or business in the name of seasonal decor.

And not just “get away with it,” either, but celebrate it, photograph it and commemorate it with song.

’Tis the season! As photographer Shannon Cornman found, there’s plenty of shining — or twinkling, as the case may be — holiday spirit to soak up among area neighborhoods and icons.

The Inbetweeners Movie

Where's Clark Griswold when you need him?

Comedy

Rod Lott
Spun off from the hit British TV series that recently was remade poorly for MTV, The Inbetweeners Movie follows the original show’s core quartet of socially awkward lads on vacation — er, sorry: “on holiday.”

Killer Holiday / Murder University

Slash equals trash.

Horror

Rod Lott
Think of all the critical evisceration that the Friday the 13th movies endured in their time. Yet they're high art compared to two recent slasher "homages," the low-budget Killer Holiday and the no-budget Murder University.

OKG7 pie dreams

OKG7 Dining

Kelley Chambers
On the television show Twin Peaks, FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper couldn’t get enough cherry pie at the Twin Peaks Double R Diner. (Don’t even get him started on the damn fine coffee around town.) He raved about the pie at every opportunity, and you too will find reasons to celebrate pie, especially during the holidays. These metro favorites surely would far exceed Agent Cooper’s insatiable lust for fantastic pie.
