Rock it

OKG7 things to do

Gazette staff

Broncho may not be able to Get Past the Lips, and they definitely “Don’t Really Want to Be Social,” but that doesn’t mean they rock any less. In fact, quite the contrary. See the popular Oklahoma garage rockers do what they do best (rock) 8 p.m. Saturday at Opolis, 113 N. Crawford Ave. in Norman. Tickets are $10-$12. Call 447-3417 or visit opolis.org.

RECAP: South by Southwest, day one

From Parker Millsap to Chelsey Cope, Austin's SXSW fest starts strong with Oklahoma music showcase at Buffalo Lounge.

Music

Zach Hale
This is my first South by Southwest, so some rookie mistakes are to be expected on Day 1. There were a few instances, however, in which I definitely should have known better. Like, you know, sunscreen.

Broncho - "Class Historian"

Rock

Joshua Boydston
Broncho has never been hurting in the hook department. The success of the trio’s 2011 debut, Can’t Get Past the Lips, was predicated mostly on its ability to marry melodies with kinetic guitar riffs and anarchic energy. Yet we’ve heard nothing to the degree of pure pop catchiness on display in “Class Historian,” the new single from Broncho’s upcoming sophomore album, Just Enough Hip to Be Woman.
