Dust off those flat, black, music-playing thingies and get your artistic groove on at Art on the Record. Local NPR affiliate KOSU invites artists young and old to create unique, vinyl-based paintings during Friday’s monthly Film Row Frolic. The event takes place at the Individual Artists of Oklahoma Gallery, 706 W. Sheridan. Call 232-6060 or visit iaogallery.org.

Various Artists — A Blackwatch Christmas Vol. III (Holly-Tonk & Jingle Beats)

Indie

Joshua Boydston
Three volumes in and A Blackwatch Christmas yet again nabs a spot on the nice list, showcasing a smattering of Oklahoma artists with charming new holiday standards. This year shakes up the status quo with two themed halves — serving up dusty, countrified Christmas ditties on the Holly-Tonk side and soulful hip-hop carols with Jingle Beats, both with joyful returns.

Three Artists All Over the Place is an apt descriptor for the new exhibit from this trio of Oklahoma artists. Check out the opening reception 6-9 p.m. Friday at the Depot Gallery, 200 S. Jones Ave. in Norman. Admission is free. Call 307-9320 or visit pasnorman.org.
