La Baguette Bistro
1130 Rambling Oaks, Norman, 329-1101
Filet mignon done
with a Madeira wine and mushroom sauce might be one of the specials,
along with a chicken Philly on a toasted baguette dressed with a garlic
mayonnaise. Brunch on Saturday is always a fun happening. No matter when
you visit, the food is always terrific at this French spot. And dont
miss the bakery items.

Joeys Cafe
12325 N. May, 748-5878
Tucked in the Town & Country Village strip mall, Joeys, with its California cuisine, could have chicken Florentine on its menu or even cream of mushroom soup. Also, the chefs feature a delightful Mediterranean pasta and an herb-crusted chicken with veggies. Breakfast is a wonderful option at Joeys, with one of the best chefs in town at the stove.

Trattoria il Centro
500 W. Main, 601-5858
Not only does the Trattoria feature free pizzettas (in other words, small pizzas) in the bar from 4 to 6 p.m. at its Hour of Joy, it offers a range of appetizers that are half-off during that time. Trattoria is doing well despite all of the heavy construction going on in the area. Those pizzas are done in its wood-fired oven.

Although the main thrust at Als Cafe in North Oaks Shopping Center is onion burgers, it does offer daily specials. On Tuesdays, its Indian tacos, and on Wednesdays, look for the Truck Stop Special, which is a hamburger steak served on a bed of grilled onions. Homemade chicken-fried steak is the special on Thursday. Finish with fried pies, peach cobbler and cupcakes.

Zorbas Mediterranean Cuisine
6014 N. May, 947-7788
Among the most famous Mediterranean dishes is its paella (pi-AY-yuh), a dish of rice flavored with chorizo. And that, my friends, is only available on Friday, Saturday or Sunday while it lasts. Other times, dig your pita triangles into the hummus, the tzatziki, which is creamy yogurt dip with cucumbers and spices, or dolma, fantastic stuffed grape leaves. Or, ask for its wonderful lamb shanks.
