Territorial Reserve Rye Wine Ale
The crew at COOP Ale Works, 1124 NW 51st St., always seem to have something up its sleeve — in its barrel, if you will. This season is no different.
Get ready for the six-month-bourbon-barreled Territorial Reserve Rye Wine Ale. If the name alone doesn’t have you panting, maybe the tidbit that it has been oak-aged will.
Expect a limited run – only 1,900 bottles will be made, according to Josh Graves, cellerman at COOP.
Graves said it’s perfect for your fall liquor closet because, “rye [is] the main ingredient, it’s a very spicy grain and it brings out a lot of the seasonal flavors.” He also noted that the whiskey barrels add a woody, autumnal flavor.
Seasonal Harvest Lager
It’s
back! The Seasonal Harvest Lager is a winner in our books, as well as
the books of the World Beer Championships. It’s suggested by Tim
Schoelen, president of Mustang Brewing Company, 520 N. Meridian Ave..
It’s a Vienna- Marzen lager, representative of a style that is seen in
many Oktoberfests and tends to be medium-bodied with a nutty finish.
It’s
available at metro McNellie’s locations, as well as most liquor stores.
Schoelen said he even saw it on the menu at S&B’s Burger Joint, 20
NW Ninth St.
William Selyem Pinot Noir
Local
wine distributors like Thirst Wine Merchants, 4100 Will Rogers Pkwy.,
bring incredible wines directly to your favorite liquor stores or
restaurants. Corey Bauer, sales manager at Thirst, proudly supports
William Selyem wines, a Sonoma County standout. Selyem is a
single-vineyard winery, which means the wine is made solely from the
grapes it grows and harvests.

Jägermeister spice
Just
like wine, spirits are scouted from across the globe and then brought
to your doorstep. (Well, not literally, because Oklahoma’s archaic
liquor laws won’t allow that.) Sidney Frank Importing Co. is
releasing its seasonal libation, Jägermeister Spice. Sidney is the sole importer of Jäger in the country and has been since 1974. Spice less licorice
and heavy on cinnamon and vanilla. Doug Garone, Sidney Frank state representative, said the new flavor will drop Oct. 1, available
in limited number by case at Byron’s Liquor Warehouse, 2322 N. Broadway
Ave.
“It’s gonna be gone by December. This is a must-have, must-buy item,” Barone said.
Miner Family Wines Viognier
Can’t
make it to Napa Valley this year? It’s cool. Premium Brands Wine &
Spirits Company, 3525 S. Purdue, brings it to the metro by way of Miner
Family Winery, a family-owned vineyard that takes pride in producing
topquality wines from one of the most celebrated wine regions.
Clayton Bahr is a representative for Premium and host of Tasting Notes, a
local radio show on The Spy that pairs great wine with great tunes. He
told us, “Viogniers are a little bit heavier than your Sauvignon Blancs
and Pinot Grigios, and they have all those fall aromas — usually
honeysuckle, pears, apples and orange rind come through.”
