Norman Music Festival announces headliners

Indie-pop band Of Montreal will join Starlight Mints as headliners at this year's Norman Music Festival, organizers announced last week.

In a posting on the festival's Facebook page, organizers said the Athens, Ga., band has "been around for many years, and have played Norman a few times in the past."

"There's a reason why they've had 5 million song plays on MySpace," organizers wrote. "They write great tunes, and put on a big show."

Other Main Stage performers will be chosen in the weeks to come, organizers wrote. Acts for the "Okie-Dirt" stage were also named for the April 25 festival, and include Brandon Jenkins, Todd Snider, Camille Harp, Travis Linville, Resident Funk and Blue Turtle Seduction.

Organizers hope to fill five stages with 50 regional, local and national touring bands for the free festival. Like last year's inaugural event, acts will perform on outdoor stages set up on Norman's Main Street and on stages inside Opolis and Sooner Theatre. More than 13,000 people attended that first fest, which featured a reunited Chainsaw Kittens and indie-rock choir The Polyphonic Spree. "Joe Wertz
