Brad Beesley's documentary "UFO's at the Zoo: The Flaming Lips Live in Oklahoma City," which captured the legendary September 2006 show at the Zoo Amphitheatre, will go on sale Aug. 7.
The Zoo show was one of the best Lips performances, said Beesley, who also directed the band's 2005 documentary "The Fearless Freaks," and has produced scores of music videos for the band. Two concerts were filmed for the DVD: one in OKC and one in Los Angeles, Beesley said, though despite a smaller budget and fewer cameras, the OKC show was chosen for the film because of the stellar performance and ravenous audience.
For those who can't wait until the sun comes up, Guestroom Records, 3710 N. Western, will have a special midnight sale of the DVD, a pre-party event and screening of the film.
