12x12' art show previewed

The Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition is putting one square foot in front of the other to raise money at its 18th annual "12x12 Art Show & Sale." More than 150 Oklahoma artists took on the challenge to prove that bigger isn't always better by creating their own masterpieces to fit the 12-inch-by-12-inch dimension limitation.

These small wonders will be on display at "12x12" on Sept. 29 at the Fred Jones Industries Building, 900 W. Main, but OVAC is offering a sneak peek of part of the exhibit now through Sept. 24 at the Bank of America gallery space in the lobby of Leadership Square, 211 N. Robinson.

Satisfying even the most eccentric of taste buds, the exhibit's featured artists used a variety of different styles in their works, including:
" painting,
" sculpture,
" photography,
" jewelry,
" drawing and
" ceramics.

The artwork will be sold through a silent and blind auction on Sept. 29. Funds raised will support OVAC programs such as curated exhibitions, grants and young artist events. Last year's show raised more than $45,000, with more than 700 people attending. Approximately 800 visitors are expected this year.

For more information or to purchase tickets for the Sept. 29 event, call 232-6991 or visit visit their site.
