Take two

Robert E. Bacharach, a U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Western District of Oklahoma, first was nominated to serve on the 10th Circuit by Obama in January 2012. Both of Oklahoma’s Republican senators, Tom Coburn and Jim Inhofe, expressed strong support for Bacharach’s nomination.

However, when Senate Democrats brought the nomination up for a closure vote in July, a few months before the presidential election, Senate Republicans blocked a vote on the nomination.

Bacharach was nominated for the post again by Obama in January.

The nomination is scheduled to be brought before the Senate for consideration at 5 p.m. Monday, with a roll call vote on Bacharach’s confirmation to follow at 5:50 p.m. —Clifton Adcock

Editor's note: Robert Bacharach is brother of Oklahoma Gazette editor-in-chief Phil Bacharach.
