OKG7 places to imbibe and dine

Royal Bavaria
3401 S. Sooner, Moore
royal-bavaria.com
799-7666

An
authentic German restaurant that’s also a brewery sounds like a great
idea, doesn’t it? That’s because it is. Duh. Check out its menu online
for a ton of foods you can’t pronounce but will surely enjoy. Wash it
all down with King’s Gold, a traditional Munich lager, or a King’s
Weizen, wheat malt with hops.

Iguana Cafe
6482 Avondale
608-0600

Newly
nestled in Nichols Hills Plaza, Iguana Cafe is a more intimate version
of downtown’s Iguana Mexican Grill. The cafe features a smaller menu
than the Ninth Street locale, but still offers the same spectacular
tacos, burritos and salsas everyone has grown to love, including five
dinner specials a night.

Hollie’s Flatiron Steakhouse
1199 S. Service Road, Moore
799-0300

Hollie’s
is selling sirloin, an 8-ounce fillet and a 20-ounce, bone-in ribeye.
Pair it with the Purple Perfect Margarita, featuring Chambord. And don’t
think your only choice is beef. Get oven-roasted chicken, fish, pork
chops or St. Louis ribs. No matter what winds up on your plate, enjoy
one of the 24 wines by the glass.

Vast
333 W. Sheridan
702-7262

The temps might be low, but Vast is up — way up: on
the 49th and 50th floors of the Devon tower, to be precise. Grab a
glass of bubbles or one of the carefully concocted libations like the
tropical sizzle, made with vodka, jalapeño, mango and passion fruit.
Enjoy a lemon grass poached shellfish or porcini-dusted fillet.

Habaneros Mexican Restaurant
251 E. Waterloo, Edmond
359-3319

This
address is a relocation for the popular Habaneros in Edmond owned by
Chris and Mandy Hobson. The chiles rellenos, made with large roasted
poblano peppers, is one of the signature dishes. Wash that down with one
of the many beers on the menu. Other favorites include pork chili verde
and tacos carne asada.

Shorty Small’s
2037 S. Meridian
947-0779

Opt
for the pulled pork sandwiches, blackened chicken salad sandwich or
honey mustard chicken club. You might even consider splitting the
sizable chicken-fried steak, which comes with mashed potatoes and green
beans. On the lighter side are daily soup and salad specials. Don’t skip
the milkshakes, especially the strawberry.

The Lobby Cafe & Bar
4322 N. Western
604-4650

Housed
inside the Will Rogers Theatre, this polite cafe and bar provides an
intimate space for a quick lunch or hours-long dinner. Peruse the wine
list, but don’t hesitate to let the bar staff get creative, as some
cocktails they can shake up aren’t on the menu. Chow down on in-house soups, sandwiches and salads — especially the three-beet salad — and take note of the ever-changing specials board.
