Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits first in state to earn Seal of Excellence

The Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits has been awarded the Standards for Excellence Institute Seal of Excellence. It is the first organization in the state, and one of the first in the nation, to be certified under the national accreditation program that began in 2006.

Standards for Excellence provides nonprofits with a proper ethics and accountability model.
"The certification program is a rigorous one and required over 200 staff hours to prepare the materials," said Polly Nichols, honorary board member of the center.

The institute examined the center's programs and services, management, fundraising and financial practices for compliance with the Standards for Excellence before certification was awarded.
