Schools across the state will head into spring break at some point this month, but not everyone will be packing up for a beach getaway or visiting grandparents who live far away. Though one’s spring break might include zero travel plans, there is still plenty of fun for families to have without leaving the state. Oklahoma Gazette breaks down several fun options for children and parents of children within the 405 area code.

Elevation Trampoline Park

March is always a time to spring forward on the clock, but those who visit Elevation Trampoline Park can take that old adage to a literal extent. Imagine a wide-open gymnasium, but the wood floors have been replaced with large, paneled trampolines. The young and young at heart can literally bounce off the walls. In addition to general, freestyle jumps, guests can enjoy trampoline basketball, dodgeball and launch themselves into a giant foam pit.
Sam Noble Museum

Most museums have some kind of spring break programming, but Norman’s Sam Noble Museum features a Spring Break Escape lineup packed with things to do. March 19-23, young visitors can engage in scavenger hunts, participate in arts and craft demonstrations, meet real-life scientists and take in concerts by the likes of Mike Hosty and Sugar Free Allstars. But anyone who would rather go through the natural history museum is still more than welcome to do so. Through April 29, guests can enjoy the exhibition Celestial Siblings: Parallel Landscapes of Earth and Mars, which illustrates the uncanny similarities between our home and the red planet.
Full Circle Bookstore

Without keeping a close eye on the clock, just about any trip to Full Circle’s cavernous nooks of towering bookshelves can turn into an unplanned mini vacation. Grab a complimentary cup of coffee or let a barista craft you an upgraded joe at the bar as you peruse the shop’s wide selection. Full Circle carries just about any kind of title one could imagine, from teen fiction to political essays. The bookstore is also known for its diverse collection of books about the state and works by local writers.
Three Graces Day Spa

The kids might be on vacation from school, but that doesn’t mean parents cannot take a short break from their children as well. Prayers of tranquility are always answered at Three Graces, be it through massage, its day spa or its many beauty services. The elegantly decorated Nichols Hills space can be counted as 4,000 square feet of sheer luxury and pampering. The spa is open five days a week (closed Sunday and Monday), and reservations can be made online.
Science Museum Oklahoma

Spring break might mean time away from the physical school building, but it does not also have to mean time spent away from learning. Science Museum Oklahoma merges science with fun, opening minds to whole new worlds of wonder. A new exhibit titled Into the Fold: The Art and Science of Origami, debuts Friday. Space is still available in some of the museum’s spring break camps, including Innovators: Build & Destroy, which guides campers through the construction of different machines and contraptions.
The Boarding House

Though some parents might be tempted to put their newly liberated children up for room and board somewhere far away from home, Guthrie’s Boarding House is no inn. Still, most people who visit the unique gaming lounge wish they could have the whole night to explore the many board and card games housed between the walls of its finely decorated interior. A snack and coffee bar keeps patrons energized as they ponder their next logical chess move or make their way through the Clue mansion. For those not interested in gaming, The Boarding House also keeps a special room full of vintage vinyl records.
