There’s no better way to kick off winter shopping and celebrate the dip in temps than with a holiday party. Am I right?

From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Northpark Mall, 12100 N. May, Holiday Girls’ Night Out: Books & Boutiques gives you the perfect excuse for an evening of progressive shopping and fun with your friends.

With the combination of fashion and literature, the event boasts a little something for your bod and your brains.

“Since three of our releases fell at the holidays, we thought it would be great to have a girls’ night out and incorporate local shops into it. It combines all of our favorite things: shopping, wine, socializing and books!” said Malena Lott, local author and organizer for Holiday Girls’ Night Out, sponsored by Edmond-based indie press Buzz Books.

At the event, guests can shop Closet Moxie, Kokopelli and The Lime Leopard. Each boutique will feature special incentives for purchasing items during the event, and all three will offer appetizers, wine and door prizes.

The books? They’re on special, too. Expect a few from Lott, including The Stork Reality, Something New and Sleigh Ride: A Winter Anthology “with seven snowy short stories in it,” she said.

Distortion, a new crime novel by Lucie Smoker, also will be available, and you’ll have the chance to check out Something Wicked and Prom Dates to Die For, both young-adult paranormal anthologies, some of whose stories are penned by local authors Lena Brown, Mari Hestekin and Heather Dearly, who will sign copies.

If you’re coming strictly for the shopping, you’ll have a chance to take home a variety of winter pieces.

The Lime Leopard’s shelves are stocked with holiday-ready dresses for all those parties you’ll be attending. It’s definitely not too early to consider your New Year’s Eve outfit, either.

At Closet Moxie, you’ll be met with an array of sparkly dresses, as well as all the accessories you’ll need to complete any look, from bubble or statement necklaces to bracelets to warm scarves you can wrap up in or use to accent a staple holiday dress.

Kokopelli has a playful selection now, ranging from designer flasks to “I heart Santa” shirts, and the shop boasts an awesome selection of wintertime pajamas.

Whether you’re there for books, booze, clothes or a combination of it all, grab your girlfriends and head to Northpark. Let’s shop, OKC!
