A word for Okie musicians

There is a musical endeavor being headed by Casey Friedman in Oklahoma City right above Horn Trader Music on Reno and Western. Casey has welcomed many acoustic singer-songwriters to be a part of what he has now called "Acoustic Oklahoma," which can be found on Facebook.

Casey invited me to play in "the white room," and it became apparent that this project is something that deserves praise and attention. It's not a project to see who is better. A work of art in itself, "Acoustic Oklahoma" is a forum that brings like-minded musicians and music fans together.

It would be a shame for the Oklahoma Gazette not to give praise to all of the musicians who have come out of the woodwork. Casey has definitely set a trend that I foresee taking off in other cities around the nation.

The musicians featured are quintessentially Oklahoman, and the people who aren't getting the opportunity to hear them are missing out on something very large. There are knowns and unknowns alike that share two major things: Oklahoma and a love for music.
