Each year, Bricktown plays host to two days of blissful blues " and barbecue " to showcase some of the best jazz and blues talent around. The 13th annual Bricktown Blues & BBQ Festival will do so Friday and Saturday, at the corner of Sheridan and Oklahoma avenues.
Taking the stage at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Zen Okies serve up a gamut of rockin' blues mastery, while jazz/blues prodigy Garrett "Big G" Jacobson and his tasteful, refined guitar chops will leave you begging for more, starting at 8:30 p.m. Friday. Throw in Grammy award-nominated blues pianist Marcia Ball at 10 p.m. Friday and seasoned luminary Bugs Henderson at 10 p.m. Saturday, and you've got two nights filled with the best music around. Add a rack of smoky, barbecued ribs and you've got the perfect weekend.
Other acts slated to appear include Snakeshakers, Shortt Dogg, Blues Nation and Blackhawk Blues Band.
Get your mojo workin' starting at 4:30 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday; Doc Blue will serve as the opening act for both days. All ages are welcome, and admission is free. For more information, call 236-4143. "Jake Dalton
