24 works on paper. Featuring 24 artists from eight Oklahoma cities, the art includes printmaking and multimedia. One piece is comprised of photos sewn together to create an abstract array of pinks, blues and neutrals.
Associate director of the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition, Kelsey Karper, said the works are hard to describe.
“The guest curator, Louise Siddons, did a good job of selecting works that represent the variety of ways Oklahoma artists are working together right now,” Karper said.
In a statement, Siddons said she was thinking that what really unites the pieces is that they speak to human emotions. “The work being made by the living artists are topics we’re all living with,” she said.
The Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition paired with Individual Artists of Oklahoma to enable the exhibition to travel Oklahoma for a year. Karper said the exhibition allows communities the experience of seeing art “that’s relevant to the world they’re living in.”
