Artist of the Quarantine: Cynthia Canada

"When I paint, my inspiration comes from my heritage. I am Kiowa-Comanche, and in my paintings, I want to preserve a part of that culture," Cynthia Canada said. "At various points in my life, I have been hit with vivid dreams and visions during meditation. Sometimes those visions offer comforting messages, sometimes warnings. I use portraits of my community members and natural imagery to recreate snapshots of what I see and feel. I think nature speaks to all of us, regardless of background."
