AT&T Bricktown Ballpark houses Snow Tubing at the Brick

Winter is on its way, and Chesapeake Energy has made it easy for kids to find a snowy slope.

Snow Tubing at the Brick starts Friday at the AT&T Bricktown Ballpark, 2 S. Mickey Mantle. Through Jan. 3, 2010, the ballpark will become the Southwest's largest man-made snow-tubing slope, with a giant slide extending from the upper deck to second base.

TUBULAR
While snow tubing is a common sight at ski resorts in Colorado or New Mexico, it's almost unheard of in this region, said Kim Searls, marketing director of Downtown OKC Inc.

"We don't always see that much snow in Oklahoma City, so I just think that the uniqueness of having snow in Oklahoma City is what keeps people coming back," she said.

For those more willing to watch from the sidelines, hot chocolate, apple cider, warm sandwiches and desserts are available at the concessions stands. There's also a smaller slope for the little kids or the less adventurous ones.

Starting Friday, the slope is open Fridays through Sundays through Dec. 13 and every day Dec. 18 to Jan. 3. Admission is $10 for an hour-and-a-half tubing session, and tickets can be purchased online in advance for $13. Reservations can be made for large groups. For more information, call 218-1000.
