Bat Boy: The Musical' lands at OCU with wicked sense of humor, tabloid title character

ass="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: auto 0in">"It would be hard to find one Bat Boy; I have two outstanding young performers: Thomas Steward and Colin Anderson. They rock this role," he said.

The musical is making quite the splash on campus. Images of the actors in character can be seen on every napkin dispenser in the cafeteria, and the production is co-sponsoring a blood drive with the Red Cross and the Student Nursing Association 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday in the atrium of the Bass Music Center.

"I am giving away vampire teeth with each donation," Herendeen said.

Herendeen said that "Bat Boy" is a great companion piece to "Frankenstein," also staging at OCU this weekend.

"'Bat Boy' is for the older, smarter audience," he said. "It is a very intelligent, well-crafted musical ... and such a fun, wacky piece."

Bat Boy: The Musical stages at 10:30 p.m. Friday, 3 and 10:30 p.m. Saturday, 8 p.m. Sunday presented by Oklahoma City University's Bass School of Music at the Kirkpatrick Fine Arts Center, 2501 N. Blackwelder.
