Breakfast for dinner

On Saturday, the museum hosts its 27th annual Omelette Party at the Coca- Cola Bricktown Events Center, 425 E. California.

This year’s theme, “Eggs à la MOD,” is inspired by the museum’s newest exhibit, “George Nelson: Architect, Writer, Designer, Teacher,” a comprehensive retrospective of the influential furniture designer’s classically modern works.

Local restaurants and chefs will cook gourmet omelets and crêpes onsite, while attendees enjoy an open bar, dancing and a raffle of works by more than 50 Oklahoma artists.

Once a small event first held in Oklahoma State Fair Park in 1984, the annual fundraiser has grown into one that attracts some 1,000 guests. The party boasts a diverse crowd, said Leslie Spears, communications manager for the museum.

“One of the best things about this party is all of the different people there,” she said. “There are a wide variety of ages. Typically, the younger crowd will stay and dance until the very end of the party.”

Local band The Stars will provide the music, along with DJ Brian Smith. The party gets cooking at 7 p.m. and ends at midnight. Tickets are $75 in advance or $100 at the door. For more information, call 236-3100 or visit okcmoa.com. —Courtney Silva
