Not good, drivers! That’s because underinflated tires pose a genuine safety risk. Without enough air, heat is generated that causes damage and failure to the tire. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, properly inflated tires can improve fuel economy by 3.3 percent, saving drivers up to 12 cents per gallon of gas.

“Too many drivers fail to do one simple task every month that will reduce their safety risk and help our nation conserve valuable natural resources,” said Charles Cannon, RMA president and CEO. “Checking tire pressure takes just five minutes, and it’s worth every second.”
