Gov. Mary Fallin is hard at work campaigning for a return to Common Core school standards by making herself an example of the devastating effects of a poor education.
Speaking to the Tulsa Chamber of Commerce, Fallin explained the three branches of Oklahoma’s government, and she got almost half of them right.
“You know there are three branches of our government. You have the Supreme Court, you have the legislative branch and you have the people, the people and their ability to vote,” she said totally seriously.
Just as a refresher, the legislative branch is one of the branches of government. The Supreme Court is a part of the judicial branch, though it also includes all the district courts that make decisions daily. The people (and their ability to vote) are not a branch of government. The one she forgot is the one of which she is a part: the executive branch.
Though, as Twitter user Caleb Savage (@csavagelead) points out, maybe that was on purpose.
“She did exclude herself from the three branches, so at least she understands she’s useless in this situation,” he said.
