Chicken-Fried News: Huggable heroes

In the wake of the Dallas shootings in June, Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office recently received anonymous thank-you notes.

The notes showed up on Oklahoma police vehicles and on the office’s front entrance. They read, “Praying for police officers everywhere. Your lives matter! Thank you for your service. God bless you all.”

It was a positive act in exchange for the horrifying occurrence in Dallas.

“Those five heroes last night didn’t expect that to be their last shift. Every day, we have law enforcement officers across the country and here in this county that put on a uniform and go out to protect our citizens, never knowing whether that’s their last shift or not,” Whetsel told News 9.

These officers are thanked for their actions in a time when they are faced with violence and the unknown during every shift.

It’s things like this we need in our media, promoting random acts of kindness and the common good.
