The Information Technology & Innovation Foundation, a nonprofit think-tank, conducted a state-by-state survey last year.

The study ranked states in order based on the state’s preparedness for the future, especially in fields of innovation and research.

NewsOK.com reported that Oklahoma, with its energy-based economy and little else invested in research and development, ranked 48th-lowest state in the union regarding its plans. It seems we don’t have much planned for when the wells — literally and figuratively — run dry. On the bright side, we beat Alaska and North Dakota. Break out the confetti, y’all.

Just when we were starting to feel good about ourselves again, here comes another ranked checklist to tell us our shortcomings.

At least it keeps us humble.
