Chicken-Fried News: Smuggling rules

The first rule of smuggling drugs: You don’t talk about smuggling drugs.

The second rule of smuggling drugs: You don’t talk about smuggling drugs.

Third rule of smuggling drugs: If an officer stops you, finds drugs or arrests you, the smuggling is over.

Those appear to be the rules followed by Rodney Bonner and his passenger. Last month, the two were traveling in a Ford pickup when Oklahoma City police initiated a traffic stop after viewing a license plate improperly displayed.

According to okcfox.com, police uncovered 299 pounds of marijuana in the truck’s bed under a camper shell. When officers asked Bonner about the marijuana bale, the 49-year-old told police the truck belonged to the passenger. Both driver and passenger offered police conflicting stories about their travels from Phoenix, Arizona, to Warsaw, Missouri.

The TV news station reports police booked Bonner into the Oklahoma County jail on complaints of trafficking illegal drugs.

At Chicken-Fried News, we suggest drug smugglers develop new rules.

The first rule of smuggling drugs: Check vehicle for compliance with traffic laws.

The second rule of smuggling drugs: Get all smugglers in on the same story.

The third rule of smuggling drugs: Just don’t do it.
