Sometimes, money gets lost we lose $5 here or $20 there. Most of the time, we dont realize it and it isnt a big deal. But we here at Chicken-Fried News think if we misplaced lots of money $1.3 million, for instance we would probably notice fairly quickly. Unfortunately, it took a Mustang insurance agency years to notice anything was amiss with its accounts and its bookkeeper.
KFOR.com reported that Vanessa L. Pollard recently plead guilty to one count of wire fraud for transmitting $3,178 in January 2014 and one count of signing a false federal income tax return in 2013.
Pollard was the insurance agencys bookkeeper for 17 years, during which time she paid her credit card bill with unauthorized checks and wire transfers and amassed nice things from her nefarious money-handling.
As part of her penance, she forfeited a house, two trucks, a sports car, three motorcycles, a boat, two jet skis and a retirement account totaling $1,344,915.02.
KFOR.com reported that the bold embezzler could face 23 years in prison, four years of parole, $500,000 in fines and restitution for her audacity.
Her sentence hasnt been announced yet, but we figure she will miss the days she lived in the lap of her thieved luxury.
Were also extremely interested in the fact that nobody noticed she had all these awesome things and wondered how she could afford them.
