Children's puppetry innovator to perform at UCO

What life lessons have you learned from a puppet?

The University of Central Oklahoma premieres two performances of Jim Gamble's "Wonderful World of Puppets" at 10:30 a.m. and noon on Thursday. Gamble has performed for audiences in more than 20 countries and is considered an innovator of children's puppetry, being known for blending familiar musical themes with colorful characters.

Several Edmond elementary schools already have signed up to attend the show, but seating is still available for home-schooled children and their parents, as well as other elementary school-aged students.

"We believe this show will be fun and educational, and give children a chance to experience live theater," said Jon Finch, director of UCO's "Broadway Tonight" program. "Because of budget restraints throughout the school districts, we made the decision to offer free admission so that children are able to attend."

"Wonderful World of Puppets" includes audience participation and is recommended for ages 4 through 12. Each show is 50 to 60 minutes long with no intermission, and will stage in the Mitchell Hall Theater, 100 N. University in Edmond.

Admission is free, although donations are accepted. To reserve seats, call 974-3375. "LeighAnne Manwarren
