The American-style blonde ale was released in mid-August. Black Mesa Brewing co-owner Brad Stumph said he and his brewer, Chris Sanders, are working on another style for later this year.
There are a couple recipes were happy with, Sanders said. Based on time and season, were probably going to go with a black lager.
Black Mesa shares space with Redbud and Anthem at the Oklahoma City Brewing Company.
Its perfect for us starting up, he said. Well see how long it takes to outgrow it. If all the brewers down there keep doing well, we might hit capacity before we expect to.
Stumph was an amateur craft-beer enthusiast for many years, but he never expected to go into the beer business until he met Sanders.
We had several conversations over many beers, and we realized that the two of us combined had the skill set to succeed at this, he said.
For now, Black Mesa Blonde is available only in kegs; Oklahoma City Brewing Company is working on a bottling line.
The blonde is available at Tapwerks, 121 E. Sheridan; The Abners Ale House, 121 E. Main in Norman; Ludivine, 805 N. Hudson; and Old Chicago, 7301 S.E. 29th in Midwest City and 1150 E. Second in Edmond.
