Eat hot peppers, do nothing, lose weight?!

For those who like to sit all day and eat hot peppers, there may be good news for you. Researchers at the University of Oklahoma confirmed the results of an experimental drug that the makers claim burns calories while sitting at your desk. This is as opposed to another way of trimming fat at the work desk " downloading porn.

The name of the drug is Capsiplex and, according to a story from the Daily Mail out of London, the drug makers say the pill can burn off the equivalent to walking 80 minutes or 25 minutes of jogging (or maybe five minutes of debate with our own Rep. Randy Terrill). The OU tests found adults who took the hot pill burned 278 more calories than those who didn't.

The drug is made from a combination of red-hot peppers and capsicum, a plant that produces hot spices.

The drug maker also claims Capsiplex is used by Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez and Oklahoma native Brad Pitt. Well, that should convince anyone the drug is safe. Nothing wrong with those three, right?

"For decades, scientists have known about the weight-loss potential of red-hot peppers. The problem has been the ability to consume such a highly concentrated amount, but we have overcome this by putting a protective coating on the ingredients which stops any gastric irritation," a spokesman for the drug told the Daily Mail.
