Exhibit of works by Oklahoma City expressionist Bert Seabourn opens

The paintings of Bert Seabourn are on display at In Your Eye Studio through Jan. 31.
A new exhibit opened last week in the Paseo Arts District, showcasing multiple works by Oklahoma City artist Bert Seabourn."Honest Expressions" is on display through Jan. 31 at the In Your Eye Studio & Gallery, 3005-A Paseo.

Seabourn is an American Indian artist known for expressionist paintings that employ drips, smears and splatters of color and texture to blend opposite elements, creating drama and tension on his canvases.

The "Honest Expressions" exhibit includes roughly 25 paintings, said gallery owner Gayle Curry. Seabourn will show several new pieces. On display are at least two larger-scale paintings, she said, one a "beautiful Indian painting," the other a 30-by-30-inch painting of koi.

"Bert always brings a big variety," Curry said. "His work really brings out the deeper truth in his art."

Seabourn has been an artist for more than 50 years and has experimented with watercolor, acrylic, gouache and oils. The gallery is open noon to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays. For more information, call 525-2161 or visit www.inyoureyegallery.com. "?Joe Wertz
