Failed money grabber

Lawton police officer Alicia Redding was one of the officers who responded to the 911 call that was placed by a group of teenagers who heard shouts
for help coming from the manhole. She said she was surprised that the
man had sustained only minor injuries during his two-day stint
underground.

Lawton
police officers rescued the disoriented man from a pipe that measured
only 42 inches in diameter, meaning he had crawled into it. The man
explained that he had dropped the money down a storm drain accidentally
and then felt compelled to go after it. But he got lost.

“That’s the first time in going on 28 years that we have found somebody down in a storm drain,” Sergeant John Chelenza said.

The worst part of this ordeal for this frugal man was surely that he was unable to recover his lost $20 bill.
