Paul Wesselhöft was right (Letters, "A call for nonviolent civil disobedience," Aug. 25, Gazette): We "Gazettites" did "pounce" all over his letter and "demonize" him, because that's what we do.

Well, maybe not. I just feel sorry for the guy. Imagine spending your entire adult life serving as an official of the Christian religion and not having a clue of what it's all about. That's really sad. The compassion/forgiveness/understanding thing just slipped right past him. I pity him when he stands before God as He informs Wesselhöft that he got all backward.
