For the Fallen thrives on band members' friendship

From elementary school classmates to college-aged bandmates, the five members of For the Fallen have seen each other through it all.

"We've all been through our shares of ups and downs, whether is financially or family problems," said Tyler Corr, the group's lead singer. "So we write our music to pick people up. We want to write things people will be able to relate to."

Rounded out by guitarists Jairus Roark and Dylan Young, bass guitarist Derek Cofer and drummer Joseph Cantrell, the Edmond band formed a little more than a year ago and will take the stage Friday at Harn Homestead in Oklahoma City.

In the beginning, the rockers refused to be a cover band, but the guys soon gave into the pressures of the local band scene.

"Oklahoma isn't a big local music state, so there aren't many venues we can go to and just play our stuff," Corr said. "People want to hear something they know so they can sing along and have a good time." "Lauren Parajon
