Gazedibles: Being green

Whether you’re looking for Irish-themed food, drink or both to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, there are a variety of options in the Oklahoma City area. Dig into corned beef or get an authentic boxty (Irish potato pancake). Of course, there is plenty of green beer and Irish whiskey to go around for the adult crowd.

The drive down Highway 62 to Choctaw for a trip to the Black Raven might be the closest thing in Oklahoma to a trip to Ireland. The authentic Irish pub hosts traditional Irish music on Friday and Saturday nights. It’s a fair warning to those who try to avoid bagpipes. The menu includes Irish staples like salmon-topped boxty.

The location in Deep Deuce went through a name change and once again allowed cigar smoking on the premises over the last year, but the constant has been its superior spirit collection, particularly whiskey. With a selection over 300 varieties, whether it is whiskey from Ireland, whisky from Scotland or the spirit crafted elsewhere in the world, Stag is likely to have it in stock.
