Gill’s dream pays off ... finally

He received the award at the Nashville Convention Center at a banquet to honor new inductees into the Country Radio Hall of Fame.

According to Country Music Television, Gill said, “What I want to share with you is gratefulness for all you did for a kid.”

When Gill was in high school here in OKC, he made a record and local radio stations picked it up. That experience gave him hope, he said.

Despite
radio’s diminishing presence in the media world, Gill has made the
medium work for him. He said that he believes himself to be radio-worthy
and at the top of his game as a musician. We agree.

Perhaps best known for his song “Go Rest High on That Mountain,” Gill has earned 20 Grammy awards during his career.
