Who doesn’t love an anti-mass-production concept? It’s a much more personal experience, usually featuring one-of-a-kind or vintage items.

Expect nothing short of
nostalgic wonder at the Pentaglam Pop-up Shop, 7-9 p.m. Friday. It will
set up shop at Dreamer Concepts, an Art Space for Emerging Artists (324
E. Main St., Norman; 701-0048), during a preview party for Dreamer’s
Joan Kaplan Memorial Clothing Sale.

Pentaglam,
an Etsy treasure trove, is owned and operated by local DJ, artist,
singer and lover of fashion Brooke Kelty. She peddles ’90s floral-printed
dresses, yin-yang collar necklaces, Cabbage Patch Kids magnets and a
slew of other clothing and accessories of the era. Her shop is normally
online only, so don’t miss the chance to preview her collection in
person.

The preview
party at Dreamer, along with Pentaglam, will feature shops like Elusive
(209 W. Main St., Norman; 447-1900), Unlabeled Apparel
(unlabeledapparel.com) and Matilda Jane Clothing
(matildajaneclothing.com). The inspiration behind the event is to honor
the late Joan Kaplan and her love of the Dreamer space, as well as
bargain shopping.

Most
clothing for sale will be women’s size 10-14 (M-L) and size 8 shoes.
Expect to find coats, handbags and a broad range of accessories. There
will be wine and snacks and music by Camille Harp. Tickets are $5.

A
portion of the evening’s proceeds goes to Dreamer Concepts and its
programs to help support local artists by providing a space for shows
and general community growth.

If you can’t make it on Friday night, the sale continues 12-1 p.m. Saturday.

While in Norman, you might as well make a day of it.

Shop
STASH (412 E. Main St., Norman; 701-1016) for all the quirky things you
didn’t realize you’d been living without. For example, bamboo
toothbrushes. The recent trend toward all things sustainable has
resulted in bamboo-handled brushes that boast an inspirational message
on the handle. Remember Golden Books? The kidsized hardback books with a
gold binding, always packing a positive life message, are also
available in-shop.

Swing by Blush (566 Buchanan Ave., Norman; 701-8600) if your fall wardrobe looks bare.

This locally owned gem of a shop refreshes its stock regularly and keeps its social media pages updated with teasers.

For
fall basics, Stash has you covered with new sweaters, scarves and items
with one of the upcoming season’s biggest trends — camouflage.

Blush’s Facebook also shares photo ideas on how to make your wardrobe transform from summer to the early days of fall.

No matter your style of shopping — pop-up, quirky or hyper-local — give Norman a nod. Let’s shop, OKC.
