Kids receiving treatment at the Jimmy Everest Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at the Children’s Hospital of Oklahoma have been creating their own masterpieces during art therapy sessions to donate to the event’s silent auction. All proceeds benefit the Oklahoma Children’s Cancer Association.

The night is like an awards show, complete with a red carpet, photographers and the University of Oklahoma women’s basketball team to escort the kids, said Rhonda Williston, event spokesperson.

“It’s wonderful to see these children be the center of attention. This event provides them with very special memories that they will hold onto for a long time,” Williston said. “If you haven’t personally been affected by cancer in one way or another, it is a great way to reach out to those who have and let them know that they are not alone.”

“Art with a Heart” runs from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Oklahoma History Center, 2401 N. Laird. Tickets are $30. For more information, visit artwithaheartokc. com. —Courtney Silva
