The Tulsa-born and Yukon-raised Owasso resident also known as country superstar Garth Brooks has released a new single, "People Loving People."

It's his first single since 2008. It debuted to radio Wednesday and is streaming now on Maine's Q106.5.

"People Loving People" is written by busbee (Michael Busbee), Lee Thomas Miller and Chris Wallin, said a media statement from his publicist. His upcoming album does not have a release date or title, but will be released on Pearl/RCA Nashville.

Since his radio debut in 1989, he's charted 25 No. 1 singles on country airplay charts — the only solo artist in Recording Industry Association of America's history to do so.

This marks a turning point of Brook's career, as he retired in 2001 to raise his children. He played the occasional live show, including the 2001 inauguration ceremonies of President Barack Obama. He also performed with wife Trisha Yearwood to a sold-out crowd at last summer's Twister Relief Concert, organized by fellow Okie and friend Toby Keith at the Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman. That concert raised about $2 million for tornado relief efforts after storms wrecked the metro area last May.

He's the top-selling artist of the past two decades, with more than 68.5 million units sold, according to Billboard, Nielsen and SoundScan.

Brooks also recently announced a comeback tour. No Oklahoma dates have yet been announced.
