HOOPS! (There it isn't)

The lockout is partially to blame for Kevin Durant having to film the majority of a new Warner Bros. feature movie in — of all places — Baton Rouge, La., instead of right here in the OKC, according to The Oklahoman. A snag in state film incentives will have Durantula reportedly headed for bayou country. Although Oklahoma offers a 37 percent rebate for instate film productions, the Oklahoma Film & Music Office is out of funding this fiscal year, while Louisiana doesn’t have a cap on tax credits.

“With the NBA lockout, there are so many restrictions to what the NBA will allow and won’t allow that at the last minute we found out that some of the people we brought to the table would be unable to participate,” Director Jill Simpson reportedly said.

“It was a significant amount of money that we had to raise. The difference that they would get with the rebate was well over a million dollars, probably close to two.”

Simpson told the paper the film office worked intimately with the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber for potential moola, but the NBA rulebook prohibits financial assistance from team honchos (Chesapeake Energy, SandRidge Energy, por exemplo) due to potential salary cap intervention.

In unrelated Thunder news, center Kendrick  Perkins pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and public intoxication, according to The Associated Press. He’s due in court Sept. 30.

Publicist Denise White publicly defended Perk’s behavior that occurred in Beaumont, Texas, where a charitable foundation event was being held.

“Kendrick was ordered to keep hydrated and take it easy,” White said in a statement. “He was not drinking alcohol nor was he intoxicated.”

Staying out of controversy overseas, Serge Ibaka became a naturalized Spanish citizen and will compete for Spain in the European championship backing up Pau Gasol of the Los Angeles Lakers, according to ESPN.com.

“Every time i go to the gym on a day off and i see @paugasol there i understand why he arrived where he did in his career #motivation,” Iblocka tweeted Aug. 22.
