“Imagination Station” is a traveling exhibit through the Oklahoma Museum Network. The interactive display marries art, science and music into a union whose offspring is knowledge and creative learning, said Sherry Marshall, director of OMN.

“Imagination Station highlights the blending of these three topics,” she said.

“You can’t isolate any one of them because they are truly symbiotic, and this exhibit gives kids the opportunity to actually see how they work together.”

The station is a collection of activities that explore the connections between the human brain and its perception of images. Features include an oscylinderscope, which allows viewers to physically see sound waves, and a shadow wall, a live piece of art that reacts to shadows as if they were solid entities. The advantage of an exhibit of this kind, Marshall said, is its interactive nature.

“This is more than just having kids punch a button and see what happens,” she said. “It allows families to get involved, explore and learn new things together.”

“Imagination Station” is on display at Science Museum Oklahoma, 2100 N.E. 52nd, through February 2011. Museum Admission is $10.95 for adults and $8.95 for seniors and children. For more information, call 602-6664 or visit www.sciencemuseumok.org.
