In and out and in

Dozens of out-of-district school students had been accepted and enrolled at Classen School of Advanced Studies in the Oklahoma City district, only to later receive an “oops” notification. The reason? Students and parents were told the district’s school board was trying to limit the number of out-of-district transfers to Classen SAS. Thus, the students would have to attend school this fall in their home district after all.

But
the power of persuasion — and a large number of unhappy parents,
including local attorney Bill Hickman — convinced board members last
week that their previous vote was unfair. These parents and students had
jumped through all the necessary hoops and filled out the required
paperwork.

As a result, board members reversed their earlier decision to deny the transfers.
