Indiana Jones: The Adventure Collection

2008

Chances are, home-video enthusiasts already own the original "Indiana Jones" trilogy on DVD. But with a new sequel about to burn up theater screens for the summer, Paramount has reissued them in special editions, collected together as "The Adventure Collection."

Whether you should double-dip depends upon your love for extra material, as the transfers appear to be the same as the previously released set.

Boasting new introductions by director Steven Spielberg and producer George Lucas, each film comes equipped with its own batch of never-before-seen features, ranging from the meaty to the peripheral. Three sets of storyboards showcase a showstopping set piece from each adventure, most notably the mine car chase from "Temple of Doom."

Several featurettes take a glimpse at various aspects of the franchise, with "Indy's Women Reminisce" uniting actresses Karen Allen, Kate Capshaw and Alison Doody for an onstage discussion about their roles as Dr. Jones' love interests. It's fluffy, but Doody's aged quite well ... as have these movies. —?Rod Lott
